Dirty Drawers are : Laura Gill, Rowenna Harrison and Jan.

(known also as, LeGill, Mehearties, and Jan Van-Der-Man)

Gill and Harrison were both educated in London - One at Central Saint Martins, experimenting with Graphic Design, and the other at Camberwell, working on Illustration. Dirty Drawers began in November 2006 at 78 Lyndhurst way in Peckham, where three projects were exhibited. It was agreed that the collaborative working methods were complementary, as one was renown for loose and comical work, and the other had a talent for the serious and refined. The partnership simmered projects from that day on and looked into themes of anatomical/structural alterations, representations of the unusual, and the championing of outsiders and geeks. It was a gutsy and intrepid adventure, with visual images flooding from unconscious piles of censored matter at the command of a pencil and goaded on by the co-conspirator. The consequence of laying bare a shared vault in the brain, which they christened 'Jan' - a spirit of Dirty Drawers, is documented across these web pages, of which, you are invited to tread. They favour the use of drawing tools to tease out the humorous, and lesser-known side of life, and wholly champion drawing as an instinctive method for transcending, communicating, and fantasia. Dirty Drawers work across design, illustration, sculpture, and installation using orthodox and new found methods - Miss. Harrison has a way of sculpting cardboard and paper mache that you will never have known before to create props, and invents fine costumes - she has assisted Julie Verhoeven amongst other legendary characters. Miss Gill can collage a whole house in under a day and makes short stop frame animations for film. Both enjoy unusual projects, events, commissions, and challenges of any nature. Part of Dirty Drawers's practice includes JanPress. JanPress generally operates in printed matter, publishing and producing projects alongside or separate to Dirty Drawers practice.
